Chrysler Australia autos share many parts with their US cousins. Autoguy will soon post information concerning parts available to restore and/or upgrade your Aussie Mopar. Things like upgrading the differential of your 70's Charger from a 8 1/4" carrier-tube axle to a much stronger 8 3/4 sure-grip unit. This is a "banjo" unit with a removable gear assembly for versatility. We will prepare this unit for bolt-in installation. Keep your classic Chrysler all Chrysler! No.....don't bolt in that 9" Ford!
As any Aussie with motor oil in his veins knows, the Valiant Charger RT was no slouch! I'm compiling some very interesting stories from Detroit regarding examples that were tested there at Chrysler test tracks! In acceleration trials,340 Darts were being thrashed! Good show, mates!! I'll be compiling more information on this legendary auto, one of my associates has an example of one here in the states, along with a 63 Valiant ute and a 68 Safari wagon! As far as we know, these are the only examples of these autos in the US.
There is a very interesting story regarding the importing of the Charger into the US! The US DOT had no information on safety or crash tests done on this auto. It was then an outlaw! Oh no,it could endanger the lives of us all should it be driven on US highways! BAD car! BAD!! But,if it's over 25 years old, they don't care anymore....... go figure !? Sooo, this auto was then imprisoned for four years in the International Motorsports Hall of Fame in Talladega,Alabama,USA untill it is officially 25 years old. Soon it will have paid it's debt to society and will then be released upon an unsuspecting public, free to wreak havoc upon US roadways! I can't wait! To see an image of this speedy fugitive from down under, click here.
More storys to come. To see an image of the 63 Valiant Ute,click here. To see an image of the Safari wagon, click here. The Safari wagon can be purchased! Interested?
